Chainsaw Carving Art Days
At the chainsaw carving meeting at Obervoitsberg Castle, artistic sculptures are created from tree trunks in front of an audience, supplemented by speed carving and music.
Admission is free!
From August 7 to 9, 2026, the Obervoitsberg Castle will be the location for extraordinary wood art. At the chainsaw carving meeting, artists from various nations will work on massive oak trunks and create individual sculptures in front of the audience. One can immediately see how the raw wood transforms into shapes, figures, and fine details with precise cuts.
The event starts on Friday at 10:00 a.m. with the official opening. Carving takes place on Friday and Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and on Sunday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The program includes several speed carving rounds, where participants create their own works within a limited time. Speed carving on Friday starts at 3:00 p.m., on Saturday between 11:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m., and on Sunday at 11:00 a.m.
On Saturday, there will be an evening gathering with the Schilcherleitn-Musi starting at 7:00 p.m. Musical entertainment on Sunday will be provided by the group "Huafis" from 2:00 p.m. Afterwards, the sculptures created during the speed carving will be auctioned off for the benefit of the artists.
You will be provided with culinary delights by Steiramichl.
Handicrafts, face painting for children, and the Alt-Kainacher knighthood complement the program. The meeting will be moderated by SR Alfred Mayer. Admission is free. The combination of traditional woodworking, international participation, and the historical castle backdrop makes the event a notable summer date in the Lipizzaner homeland.
Voitsberg is accessible by public transport.
