Annual exhibition: Glass – brilliant, beautiful and timelessly elegant

At the Stölzle Glas Museum in Bärnbach, the exhibition “Glass – brilliant, beautiful, and timelessly elegant” is dedicated to a material that has shaped Western Styria for generations. From April 8 to December 31, the museum showcases selected pieces from production and collection, making visible how versatile glass can be – clear as mountain water, finely polished, or richly colored.

The exhibition spans a wide arc between historical glasses and modern designs. The forms range from simple drinking glasses to artistically crafted vases. Some objects appear almost like frozen light. Others tell stories of everyday life in times gone by. Glass has a tradition, especially in Styria, and it remains vibrant in Bärnbach to this day.

The exhibition provides insight into craftsmanship techniques, design ideas, and the development of glass production. It becomes clear how much experience and sensitivity is embedded in each piece. As visitors walk through the rooms, they discover details that may be easily overlooked at first: fine engravings, gentle curves, the interplay of light and shadow.
