Ideal hut for pure nature, cottage romance & unforgettable moments
On the Stubalpe, at the foot of the Brandkogel, is the Franzlhütte, the club hut of the SC Köflach. The rustic self-catering hut is located in the heart of nature and offers ideal conditions for communal stays. A total of five rooms with three bunk beds each provide ample space for school classes, clubs, or private celebrations. The centerpiece of the hut is the spacious common room with traditional stove tables, which are used both for heating and cooking, creating a particularly cozy cabin atmosphere. As a self-catering hut, the Franzlhütte is well-equipped. Many kitchen utensils such as plates or a drip coffee maker are available for use. Pillows and blankets are provided in the bedrooms; bed linens or sleeping bags must be brought along. The hut has two toilets and a spacious bathroom. Hot water is supplied via a boiler. Additionally, each bedroom has a stove table for heating.
A special experience in summer is offered by the neighboring pasture with the young Lipizzaner horses. The Stubalpe is one of the most traditional excursion areas in Styria and offers numerous opportunities for hiking and nature experiences. Also, rewarding excursion destinations in the vicinity provide variety: this includes the famous Lipizzaner Stud Piber. In Bärnbach, the St. Barbara Church designed by Friedensreich Hundertwasser impresses with its colorful architecture. For relaxed hours during bad weather, a visit to the Therme NOVA in Köflach is recommended. In the nearby alpine inn Altes Almhaus, there is also the opportunity to stop for a break and enjoy regional specialties.
During the summer months, the Franzlhütte is directly accessible by car. In the winter months or during snowfall, however, access may be restricted as there is no winter service. In this case, a footpath of about ten minutes to the hut should be planned. For easier navigation, it is recommended to enter the exact coordinates of the Franzlhütte into the navigation system. This will allow you to find the location of the hut on the Stubalpe most reliably.
