Römerweg

We start directly at the Gaberlstraße on trail no. 30. After a wayside shrine, the trail leads away to the right (coming from Kleinlobming). The path leads through forest and across meadows until you reach the Stüblergut. It is private and closed. This was already in the Middle Ages a horse changing station for the carts that were on the way to the "Altes Almhaus".

Partly the path is accompanied by 20 cm deep ruts in the rocks, there are speculations that already the Romans would have used this route with their carts. Hence the name Römerweg in the Murtal adventure region.

After the Stüblergut, the trail continues until it joins the road, which you follow for about 300 meters to the old Almhaus (managed inn).

For a conflict-free coexistence on alpine pastures and meadows, it is important to observe a few rules, especially when traveling with dogs. Avoid meeting mother cows and dogs!Always keep dogs under control and on a short leash. If an attack by a grazing animal is foreseeable: Immediately unleash them!Do not leave hiking trails on alpine pastures and meadows!If grazing animals block the way, avoid them at the greatest possible distance!When grazing animals approach: remain calm, do not turn your back, avoid the animals!At the first sign of restlessness of the animals, leave the pasture area quickly!Fences are to be respected! If there is a gate, use it, then close it well again and cross pasture quickly!Meet the people working here, nature and the animals with respect!

Please make sure that you do not leave any trash in the forest.Camping and making fire - is strictly forbidden in the forest!In principle, each person in the forest may collect 2 kg of mushrooms and berries per day for personal use. It is forbidden only if the forest owner expressly prohibits it.

If you continue to the Wölker Kogel (1.706m) (1/2 hour) you have a magnificent view of western Styria.

The entrance to the Römerweg is also possible directly at the Gaberl (at the windmills).

Refreshment stop after about 3/4 hours at the Latschenhütte (open again from 4.12.).
