A leisurely but extensive cycling tour through the entire Pölstal valley, in the Murtal adventure region.

Cycle leisurely through the beautiful Pölstal and get to know the individual villages of our region. The route takes you past refreshment stops and beautiful unspoilt nature spots.

Your journey from:

VIENNA (approx. 2 hours)Take the A2 to Knoten Seebenstein, direction S6 Semmering. Follow the Murtalschnellstraße S36. Follow the Friesacher Bundesstraße B317 and drive approx. 3 km. Turn right onto the Triebener Bundesstraße B114. Turn right again into the village of Pöls and drive to the market square.

KLAGENFURT (approx. 1 hour)

Take the Friesacher Bundesstraße B317 and drive approx. 60 km. Turn left to St. Georgen ob Jdbg B114a. Then turn right again onto the Triebener Bundesstraße B114 and drive to Pöls.

SALZBURG (approx. 2, 5 hours)

Stay on the A10 in the direction of Graz/Villach for approx. 54 km. Then follow direction B320/ Graz/ Altenmarkt and keep right Graz/ Wien/ Schladming / B320 for approx. 70 km. Take the exit towards Trieben. Keep right in the direction of Judenburg/ Hohentauern. Follow the Triebener Bundesstraße B113 and continue to Katzling L533. Turn left there and then follow the L533 as far as Pöls.

You start the cycle tour in Pöls and follow the cycle path in the direction of Katzling. From Katzling you follow the cycle path along the main road 114 to Unterzeiring. When you arrive in Unterzeiring, you can cycle straight on towards Oberzeiring and visit the historic village of Oberzeiring or continue cycling on the right past Hanfelden Castle to the Probstei. From Probstei, continue in the direction of St. Oswald, with a short climb leading up to St. Oswald. From St. Oswald, continue in the direction of Möderbrugg. Pass the Adelwöhrerhof farm until you reach the "Kroisenbach". There you turn right and continue past the Möderbrugg leisure centre, through a settlement area to the Pölstalerhof "Scherkl" inn. Cross the main road there and continue along the road to Zistl. In Zistl turn left in the direction of Pusterwald. When you arrive in Pusterwald, you have the option of cycling to the gold panning plant in the Scharnitzgraben.

Take a break at the organic bathing pond in Pöls. Visit the historic Oberzeiring exhibition mine and the market town of Oberzeiring with its many old buildings or the Tauernwindpark, which is well worth seeing, and marvel at the historic Hanfelden Castle.

Take a break at the Möderbrugg leisure centre and the gold panning plant in Pusterwald. A trip to Bretstein is also worthwhile. Pusterwald and Brestein are idyllically situated farming villages, far away from traffic and mass tourism.

This tour is NOT considered "accessible by train and bus" because there is no regular connection.

Parking is available at the organic bathing pond in Pöls. There is also the possibility to borrow bicycles.
