Popular challenging mountain bike tour on Knittelfeld's local mountain the Steinplan in the Murtal region.

We start in the village Kleinlobming and drive comfortably on asphalt road slightly uphill into the Hintertal. There it goes now really winding uphill on the gravel road to the local mountain of Knittelfeld and the same-named cabin where we can strengthen ourselves with a Brettljause, pork roast and after registration can also spend the night. (Note the opening hours of the hut). Only a few meters we go for a photo stop to the summit cross at 1,670m up and have a great view of the surrounding mountains of the Murtal region before it goes back downhill to Kleinlobming.

From St. Michael in Upper Styria via the Murtal expressway S36 (vignette required) to Knittelfeld (24 km, approx. 20 minutes) and further to Großlobming (total 30 km, approx. 25 minutes).

From Judenburg via state roads to Großlobming, directly in the village turn-off to Kleinlobming.

The nearest train station is Knittelfeld. From here take bus line 847, to Großlobming or Kleinlobming. Please note that on weekends and during vacation periods this line has very limited availability. Here you can cover the 5 km to Großlobming or 11 km to Kleinlobming with a regional cab company - directly available at Knittelfeld train station. If you stay overnight in one of the establishments, they also very often offer a pick-up service from the train station.
