A challenging hike to one of the highest peaks in the Seckau Alps.

From the small "Hochreichart" car park, the well-marked hiking trail leads through the forest and along a forest road to the beginning of the Branstättergraben. We then hike steeply uphill, first through the forest and later above the tree line to the Brandstättertörl at 2021m. We then climb another 400 metres of altitude on the steep south-eastern flank to the summit of the Hochreichart at 2416 m. The way back is via the ascent route. The way back is via the ascent route.

Follow the well-marked trail along forest paths, forest roads, steep tracks and over the ridge.

Beware of the risk of thunderstorms.

Avoid time pressure and choose the pace so that no one in the group gets out of breath.

Falls, as a result of slipping or tripping, are the most common cause of accidents! Note that too fast a pace or tiredness will severely impair your surefootedness and concentration.

Good hiking boots protect and relieve the foot and improve surefootedness! When making your choice, look for a perfect fit, non-slip tread sole, waterproofness and low weight; hiking poles are also very useful on the steeper and stonier passages.

Adapt your equipment to your hike and make sure your backpack is light. Rain, cold and sun protection should always be in your rucksack, as well as a first aid kit and mobile phone (Euro emergency number 112). A map or GPS will help you find your way.

A challenging but largely unmarked circular tour with easy climbing passages leads from the Hochreichart over the Hirschkarlgrat to the Geierhaupt and over the Saurücken back to the Ingeringsee.
