This gravel and MTB tour starts right at Camping Murinsel and leads from the Aichfeld valley up to the Gröndahlhaus. At around 28 kilometers and several hundred meters of elevation gain, the route is compact but challenging. The climb toward Rachau and on through the Tiefenbachgraben, in particular, requires good basic fitness. The tour follows easily rideable paved and gravel sections up to the Gröndahlhaus. The steady climb, the peaceful route, and beautiful views make it a challenging but doable tour for gravel bikes, mountain bikes, and e-mountain bikes. The Gröndahlhaus serves as the tour’s striking destination. After the climb, this is a good spot to take a break before heading back along the same route toward Aichfeld and Camping Murinsel. This makes the tour easy to plan: The way there is the physically demanding part, while the return trip is mostly downhill back to the starting point.

The tour starts right at Camping Murinsel and initially leads out of the campground area into the Aichfeld valley. After a warm-up stretch, the route heads toward St. Margarethen bei Knittelfeld and Rachau, where the actual climb to the Gröndahlhaus begins.
In the Rachau area, the route continues into the Tiefenbachgraben. At first, the route runs along sections that are easy to ride, before gradually gaining elevation. The tour first follows paved roads and later a somewhat steeper gravel road up to the Gröndahlhaus. This section gives the tour its challenging gravel and MTB character.
The Gröndahlhaus marks the highest and most striking point of the tour. It’s worth taking a break here before beginning the return trip along largely the same route. Afterward, the route heads back downhill through the Tiefenbachgraben toward Rachau, continues into the Aichfeld valley, and finally returns to Camping Murinsel.
