DISCOVERYCYCLING

Yet Murtal isn't just about action and speed. Here, enjoyment and relaxation are also part of the program. A vast network of cycling nodes spans the entire region, allowing cycling enthusiasts to navigate from point to point. With the cycling map from "Nimm's Radl," a leisurely tour along the 101 points can be planned in advance. Murtal offers a long valley surrounded by stunning peak panoramas, providing opportunities for leisurely cycling as well as challenging passages for enthusiastic athletes.

With the cycling node system, a tour can be planned according to personal preferences. Additionally, there is an attractive tour booklet suggesting great themed tours. Mixing and matching is encouraged here. The cycling node system is complemented by mountain bike (MTB) tours, ensuring that mountain bikers also get their share of excitement. In line with the theme of sports, the Murtal Adventure Region promotes the Strava Challenge "King and Queen of Murtal" from May to mid-October. The region is present on the Strava app through the Murtalclub. Participants are encouraged to collect kilometers in road cycling or mountain biking and to master segments in Murtal. In October, the King and Queen of Murtal will be crowned at the grand finale event at the Red Bull Ring.

Wheel knot System

Cycling is a passion we love to share with our guests, whether it's in the flat valley traversed by the Murradweg, on the mountains inviting for mountain biking, or on the numerous side roads predominantly used by road cyclists.

Our cycling node system is structured like a spider's web, allowing you to navigate easily from point to point and be independent of pre-made routes. This system allows for much more spontaneity, as you can flexibly modify your planned route - extending it, shortening it, or following new paths.

ROAD CYCLING IN MURTAL

 

The wide plains of Murtal offer fantastic opportunities for road cyclists, especially for pleasure riders or beginners on road bikes. Low-traffic roads, numerous route variations, and countless places to stop for refreshments make road cycling tours a beautiful experience.

MUR CYCLE PATH

 

Running parallel to Austria's second-largest river, the Mur Cycle Path winds its way from the Hohe Tauern National Park in Salzburg through the entire Styria region, eventually crossing the northeastern parts of Slovenia and Croatia in its final roughly 100 kilometers. The unique aspect of the Mur Cycle Path is that it allows you to experience the diversity of Styria up close. You'll witness the landscape change as you ride, starting amidst the mountainous terrain and ending up in the flat Graz basin. You'll also feel the difference in climate - while the air may be fresher with us, it becomes milder as you head south.

Mountainbike

Gentle hills, endless trails, and breathtaking panoramas await mountain bike fans in Murtal. Here, you'll find the perfect biking terrain for every skill level.

Climb the mountains of the Murtal region on your bike saddle. With official mountain bike tours, you're guaranteed splendid views and particularly beautiful spots along the routes. In Murtal, you'll find the right tour to suit your personal preferences. Moderate climbs as well as steep downhill rides for that adrenaline rush, tours through exciting mountain landscapes as well as through fragrant forests.
