The Zirbitzkogel shelter is the highest hut in Styria. Cozy dining rooms and a sun terrace provide ideal spots to rest and enjoy.

The Zirbitzkogel shelter (Helmut-Erd shelter) is located at 2,376 m, just 20 vertical meters and a few minutes' walk below the summit of Zirbitzkogel. It is managed by "Zirbitz-Werni" and offers 20 sleeping places in shared dormitories during the summer months. After the hike, one can recharge with a hiking breakfast, vegetable soup, Frankfurt sausages, Krainer sausages, Styrian cheese bread, board snacks, smoked meat platter, or strudel – all served in a rustic hut atmosphere.

Opening hours:

  • Open in summer from the beginning of June until around the end of September.
  • In winter, depending on snow and weather conditions, at weekends and during the winter holiday weeks.
