Pfarrkirche

High above the upper Mur Valley stands the Parish Church of St. Peter ob Judenburg, whose roots trace back to the 12th century. It was founded in 1156/64 and granted papal confirmation in 1210, developing into one of the most important parishes in the region by the Late Middle Ages.

Particularly worth seeing are the magnificent Fisher's Pulpit by the sculptor Johann Nischlwitzer (1774), the rare ceiling frescoes with the twelve apostles, as well as the striking 43-meter high onion dome.

The church is surrounded by the historic Hammerherren cemetery, complemented by a modern facility from 1999. Thus, St. Peter impressively connects history, faith, and culture – a gem that captivates visitors.
