We hike from Admont to the Klinkehütte at the foot of the Admonter Kalbling, passing through peaceful forests and over the scenic Hahnstein – a varied tour with alpine charm and panoramic views.

Our tour begins in the center of Admont and leads us through a tree-lined avenue and a romantic forest trail to the Schleiblegger Hochalm. From there, we climb the Hahnstein, whose rocky summit and steep final section offer a rewarding challenge. After descending, we follow the Alpsteig to the former Sieglalm and reach the Kaiserau plateau. The final stretch takes us across alpine meadows to the Klinkehütte, nestled beneath the imposing Admonter Kalbling. This route combines quiet woodland paths with alpine scenery and stunning views of the Ennstal.

Parking behind the town hall Admont

We start in the center of Admont and head south. After crossing the railway tracks, we turn left into the avenue. In Kematen, we follow trail no. 601 and then 601A, keeping an eye out for the Luchstrail markers. The path climbs steeply until we reach the junction to Hahnstein – a short but steep ascent brings us to the summit.

After descending, we continue east to the junction for the “Alpsteig.” This red-marked trail requires surefootedness and leads us to the Kaiserau. From there, we turn left and hike across alpine terrain for about an hour to reach the Klinkehütte.

You should also be well prepared for changeable weather.

Packing your backpack correctly makes things much easier:
Pack heavy items first. Your water bottle should always be easily accessible in a side pocket. Everything you need frequently, such as sunglasses, your smartphone, or hiking map, should be packed on top.
