Admonterhaus

Admont

In the shadow of the Admonter Warte

A sublime view of Admont - on the Admonterhaus you almost feel a bit like Her Majesty Emperor Franz-Josef. Especially because it was opened on his 65th birthday.

The highest hut in the Gesäuse offers real, homemade delicacies from savoury to sweet. This will fortify you before continuing on to the Warte of the same name, the Hexenturm or the Natterriegel.

Total mountain world

This is what you could call the view from the Admonterhaus. While you are drinking a bike beer, Gesäuse Perle or a sparkling beer to fortify yourself, you can enjoy one of the most beautiful views of the mountain world around Admont. You can also start from Hall or Oberlaussa, but then it takes half an hour longer on the road. One advantage of the Buchauer Sattel is that on the way up there is also the Grabneralm and the show dairy of the Grabnerhof agricultural college a few metres lower down. Both are always worth a stop. This way you don't have to do the many metres in altitude all at once.

Happy Birthday, Mr Kaiser!

Funny detail about the Admonterhaus: it was opened on the 65th birthday of alpine lover Emperor Franz-Josef. Then, as now, there was no road leading to the hut. The stones were quarried nearby and brought by horse and cart to the place where the Alpine Club refuge stands today. So to this day - just like the Heßhütte - it is only supplied by helicopter or on foot. It is strategically well placed, by the way, because you can still hike on to the Admonter Warte, the Hexenturm or Natterriegel. The insured trail (only for experienced hikers!) with the sounding name "Jungfernsteig" as a connection to the Blumenberg Grabnerstein is also a dream.

The current opening hours you can find on the website of the Admonterhaus lodge.
