Schilcher Wine Road
Schilcherland in Styria is located in western Styria at the foot of the Styrian Koralpe. It borders Slovenia to the south, Carinthia to the west, the home of the Lipizzaners to the north and the district of Leibnitz to the east. What make up the region are the individual details, the countless tranquil villages, markets and municipalities.
The melodious name of the region comes from the dazzling colour of the Schilcher, an exceptional wine made of the Blauer Wildbacher grape, which can only develop its typical flavour here in the mineral-rich gneiss and shale soil of western Styria.
