Murspot

About ten kilometers northwest of Graz, the Murradweg R2 runs through Judendorf. Right by the bank of the Mur lies the Murspot: a freely accessible meadow that is perfect for a break along the way.

Intentionally, very little was built. Two wooden loungers stand near the water and serve as resting and observation spots. Anyone who steps off their bike or takes a break during a walk has the river before them. Three large information boards show which animals and plants can be found here and why near-natural riverbanks are important retreat spaces. The content was developed by the Austrian Nature Conservation Youth based on nature education principles and is easy to understand for children.

Not the entire area was designed. Parts of the river meadow remain untouched and continue to provide space for animals and plants. This allows visitors to observe on-site what the boards are about.

As a stopover on a tour along the Murradweg, the Murspot is particularly well-suited. From Graz, the path leads upstream past it. Even during a walk along the Mur, the spot can be easily incorporated into the route.
