For more than 270 years, textile craftsmanship has shaped the history of the Mothwurf family. The own label combines traditional costumes and couture with clean cuts, high-quality materials, and meticulous processing. Designs are created at the headquarters in Gratkorn – between craftsmanship tradition and contemporary design.

Motto: Traditional costumes rethought

Mothwurf connects more than 270 years of textile history with contemporary design. The family's roots trace back to the year 1752, and in 1987, the brand Mothwurf was created from this heritage. Today, the company is run by the next generation.

Design is done at the headquarters in Gratkorn, Mothwurfgasse 1. The starting point for each collection is its own story, from which colors, shapes, and materials are developed. Traditional elements are reinterpreted and combined with a clear, modern design language. Loden, silk, velvet, and specially developed jacquards characterize the collections. A large part of the materials comes from Austria and Italy.

In the workshop, digital patterns and prototypes are created from initial sketches. Many distinctive details are still crafted by hand. In this way, precise tailoring, high-quality fabrics, and a keen sense of proportions and details come together.

Mothwurf consciously navigates between heritage and the present. The collections are available in Graz, Vienna, and Salzburg. For its consistent commitment to quality, innovation, and craftsmanship, the company was honored in 2025 as a "State Awarded Company".
