Genießerei am Markt

Awarded by Gault Millau: 4 toques (17 points) | Guide Michelin: 1 star | Falstaff: 1 fork

The Genießerei am Markt is a place where the diversity of the Kaiser-Josef-Market is reflected in a special way. A fixed menu cannot be found here, as the cooking is done exclusively with what the market has fresh on that day. This results in changing lunch dishes, small fine delicacies for in between, and upon request also multi-course menus that showcase the full potential of the regional ingredients.

The Genießerei develops a special charm through its manageable size: around thirty seats create a familial atmosphere in which market visitors, regular guests, and the curious are equally welcome. Those who stop here are right in the midst of the market activities and experience the unique atmosphere of the Kaiser-Josef-Platz up close.

Since 2025, chef Alexander Posch has shaped the philosophy of the house; his dishes tell stories of origin and season with high-quality regional ingredients and a fine touch of adventurousness, without losing lightness. With the Steiermark(t)-Dinner, the house focuses on regional top products with artisanal precision and much finesse from Thursday to Saturday evenings.

The Genießerei am Markt shows that enjoyment begins in small ways and has its strongest effect through direct contact between producers, chefs, and guests.
