From the parish church to the branch church of Ulrichsbrunn through the gentle landscape around Semriach, with views stretching from the Gleinalpe to the Almenland. A route that connects nature, open space and quiet places.

The Ulrichsbrunn Circular Trail (R2) starts at the parish church in Semriach and leads through the village in a north-easterly direction across quiet forests and scenic meadows. The destination – though not the highest point – is the Ulrichsbrunn branch church with the well-known Ulrich spring. The entire ensemble of church, fountain and a few houses creates a harmonious setting and invites a longer break. The spring rising here has been a place of attraction for centuries and is said to have healing qualities.

The hike is marked by constantly changing views, opening perspectives toward the peaks of the Gleinalpe, the Almenland region and the nearby Schöckl. Moderate ascents and numerous resting spots allow for a relaxed experience of Semriach’s varied landscape with forests, meadows and scattered farmsteads.

By car: Semriach village center

From the parish church in Semriach (709 m), the route leads across the square to the Raiffeisen bank and down to the Marktbach stream. It then climbs uphill past the secondary school to the edge of the settlement at the Bürgerwald. The trail continues along forest and meadow paths to the Ulrichsbrunn church (958 m). A short further ascent through the forest leads to the houses of Anger, followed by a descent mostly through woodland to the Karl am Stein farm. From there, the route returns to the Märchenpfad and follows the familiar path back to the center of Semriach.

Tip: At the pilgrimage church Ulrichsbrunn, there is the option to be picked up by the flux shared taxi at the stop Ulrichsbrunn Kirche GU 1527

The Ulrich spring features a natural water source, a wayside shrine above it and a life-sized statue of Saint Ulrich from the 18th century. The water is believed to have healing properties.
