More information
Take the A2 motorway to the Mooskirchen exit. At the roundabout, take the third exit onto the B70 towards Köflach and continue via Gaisfeld and Krems to the centre of Voitsberg.
The main square in Voitsberg is both the starting and finishing point. From here, the almost hairpin-like Burgweg climbs to Obervoitsberg Castle. Continue via the car park towards the Zangtal Mining Memorial and the displayed bucket-wheel excavator “Leopold”.
The marked trail then crosses a dog training area before reaching a gravel road and continuing alongside the Tregistbach stream. After a short trail section, join a wider path and follow the signs to Zangtalerstraße. Cross the road and continue along Lobmingbergstraße. After turning into the forest, the marked trail climbs steadily and eventually rejoins Lobmingbergstraße. After around 300 m, you reach Schneiderwirt.
From there, follow the road to the chapel and turn right at the old farmhouse “Fasslbauer” onto the Dreigräberweg. The trail passes through a beautiful mixed forest with numerous beech trees and leads past the three hills known as Dreigräberweg. Continue downhill on a meadow path to Kaltenwasserweg and then towards Stallhofner Landesstraße. Follow the pavement for a short section before turning right onto Kaltenbachweg.
The marked trail continues through a residential area and then through the forest. Via Fripertingerstraße, continue through the settlement and eventually return to the outskirts of Voitsberg and the main square.
The Zangtal Mining Memorial offers insights into the region’s mining history.
