From the main square in Semriach, the trail heads north to the Marktbach and then climbs past the secondary school to the Bürgerwald with its fairy tale trail (Märchenpfad). The route continues along forest and meadow paths through the valley to the northernmost point at Karl am Stein.

This is followed by a descent to the former Sieglwirt inn and further downhill to Unterer Windhof, with a branch east towards Tratthof and passing the Icelandic horse farm. The lowest point is reached in the Rötschgraben. A steady ascent along forest and meadow trails leads back to the center of Semriach.
