Walk: Spring Awakening at the Terenbachalm
Easy hike to the Terenbachalm with a stop at the hut, offering wide views over West Styria and return to the Sattelhaus. A peaceful spring tour for experienced leisurely hikers.
Registration required!
On May 9, the hike “Spring Awakening at the Terenbachalm” leads from the Sattelhaus near Köflach into the gentle mountainous region of Styria. The starting point is the Sattelhaus, which many hikers know for its good cuisine.
From there, the path follows a gently rising forest road to the Terenbachhütte and on to the Zeißmanhütte. Depending on the weather, fitness, and mood, there is time for a rest at one of the huts. The tour is ideal for those who enjoy walking in peace and wish to experience spring step by step. In total, about 13 kilometers and approximately 450 meters of elevation await. The pure walking time, including breaks, is about five to six hours.
At the top of the Terenbachalm ridge, the view opens wide over the hills and forests of Western Styria. The path then leads past the summit cross to the well-known photo point with the Christ statue. The descent is steep in places and runs along a narrow hiking trail. After that, it continues to the Stierkreuz and leisurely back to the Sattelhaus.
Those who wish can stop there and let the tour come to a relaxed end. The meeting point for the group drive is the Köflach train station; carpooling is encouraged. The hike is accompanied by Andreas Kohlbacher.
