The 4 Sundays of Advent

When candle after candle is lit and Christmas melodies accompany Advent, Kalsdorf near Graz collectively tunes into Christmas. On all four Advent Sundays, the main square turns into a festive meeting point for music, children's programs, and pre-Christmas traditions from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

The first Advent Sunday begins on November 29, 2026. The Christkindl post office, the Advent wreath blessing, and the lighting of the first candle are part of the program. The musical accompaniment is provided by the music band of Roto Frank and the municipality of Kalsdorf.
On the 2nd Advent Sunday, December 6, the focus is particularly on St. Nicholas. The children's program "St. Nicholas is Coming" brings pre-Christmas joy, and St. Nicholas also visits the municipal office. The Kalsdorf music school musically accompanies the afternoon before the second candle is lit.
On December 13, a children's program with SingSang Sonja follows, along with musical accompaniment and the lighting of the third candle.
On the 4th Advent Sunday, December 20, Christmas finally comes very close: The Christ Child comes to Kalsdorf, and together the fourth Advent candle is lit.

Thus, Advent at the main square is accompanied by music and familiar Christmas customs during the most beautiful time of waiting for Christmas.
