Sterz Tasting – A Culinary Journey at the Folklore Museum
An offer by GenussHauptstadt Graz in cooperation with Universalmuseum Joanneum.
Prinzelsterz? Brennsterz? Bohnensterz? With coffee, mushroom soup, or perhaps with buttermilk? As simple as the basic recipe may appear, there are so many different variations of it! In whatever form, you will definitely be satisfied.
For a long time, Sterz was considered food for the poor, but today it enjoys great popularity in traditional-modern cuisine. During our tour of the museum, we will dedicate ourselves to the origins of this dish, find out how Sterz came to Styria, and what Archduke Johann had to do with it!
Starting with an extensive stay in the historical smoking room, where not only cooking and eating took place but also living, we will begin our journey of discovery.
While there, one can easily talk about food and drink, and one will also learn quite a bit about the historical rural everyday life in Styria.
At the end of the tour, you will find Gut Schloßberg with an interesting cooking demonstration of three Sterz variants.
