Special guided tour: The Reiner Basilica at the Chamber Music Festival

The basilica of Stift Rein is among those church spaces where architecture, sculpture, and furnishings merge into a baroque total work of art. The special tour "The Reiner Basilica" is dedicated to the creation and impact of this elaborately designed space.

In the 18th century, notable craftsmen and artists who also worked for churches and noble houses in Graz were involved in the design of the Stiftsbasilika. After a comprehensive restoration, the building once again shines in the glory of its creation period. Elisabeth Telsnig reveals the baroque splendor of the church during the tour and explains how architecture, art, and religious iconography were harmonized.

Thus, it becomes understandable why the basilica must have seemed to the people of its time like a "heaven on earth." The tour opens up a closer look at the historical church space and conveys the design concepts that underlie its furnishings.

The special tour takes place on September 6 as a thematic introduction to the final concert "Indescribable" of the Chamber Music Festival. The concert begins at 7:30 p.m. in the Stiftsbasilika. In the anniversary year of the festival, Stift Rein is offering its own tours for the first time, tailored to selected concerts.
