Open folk dancing

Starting Sunday, April 26, 2026, the Kultursaal Premstätten invites you to Steirisch Tanzen, an open folk dance evening in the heart of Styria. The event begins at 8:00 PM and is expected to last until around 10:00 PM. At Steirisch Tanzen, people from the region and beyond come together to enjoy traditional dances and authentic Styrian folk music. The evening offers the opportunity to experience and dance along to familiar and new forms of dance from alpine dance tradition.

The dance evening is organized by Herbert Kirchberger, who has been hosting these dance circles for many years and ensures that participants feel comfortable, whether they have dance experience or not. The Kultursaal Premstätten itself is centrally located in the market community of Premstätten and is a familiar meeting point for cultural events and community activities in the Graz Region.

Traditional folk dances such as the Ländler or Polka are accompanied by contemporary and classical dance music, performed by regional musicians. New faces are warmly welcome; often, a sense of connection and community quickly develops during the dance evening as couples and groups glide across the dance floor. The event is open to all generations and also offers the opportunity to immerse oneself in and get to know Styrian dance culture.
