On the Day of Open Studio Doors in Graz, Juan Carlos Callejas opens his studio in Schönaugasse and provides insight into his contemporary artistic work.
Discovering art where it is created provides an immediate insight into materials, techniques, and artistic methods. On October 3rd, Colombian artist Juan Carlos Callejas will open his studio door at Schönaugasse 3 in Graz.
Callejas explores the tension between abstraction and figuration in his contemporary painting. Portraits and scenes from everyday life emerge in his multifaceted works and recede again. A particular feature is his approach to material: the artist works, among other things, on fiberglass fabric and creates paints made from pure pigments sourced from Colombia. Depending on the light and angle of view, different layers of his paintings can thus become visible.
The artist, originally from Colombia, lives in Austria and has presented his works internationally as well as multiple times in Graz, including at Murinsel and LKH Graz II, West location.
The open studio day offers art enthusiasts the opportunity to get to know Callejas' artistic work directly at its place of creation.
