Nativity exhibition Rein and Christmas Market, Gratwein-Straßengel

27/11/2026 - 07/01/2027 Show all dates

Nativity scene viewing at Rein Abbey, with exhibits from all over the world.

The Nativity Exhibition 2026 at Stift Rein transports visitors into a fascinating world of Christmas traditions. Over 20 artistically designed nativity scenes from countries such as Japan, Colombia, Peru, and Africa tell the Christmas story in a unique way.

From November 27, 2026, to January 7, 2027, Stift Rein will showcase an extraordinary nativity exhibition that allows visitors to immerse themselves in a variety of Christmas traditions. Approximately 20 artistic nativity scenes from around the world can be seen, including those from Japan, Colombia, Peru, and Africa. These impressive exhibits have mostly been provided by Dr. Bernd Mayer, who collects over 600 nativity scenes at his Birglhof. Notably, two nativity scenes from Friuli-Venezia Giulia are highlighted, including a model of the historic Grado and the famous Lagoon Nativity scene, which was displayed last Advent at St. Peter's Square in Rome. The exhibition is open on the Advent weekends and holidays from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., and groups can also visit the exhibition outside of these hours by prior arrangement.

Entry is free, but voluntary support is appreciated!
Stift Rein is accessible by public transport.
