Mountain fair
Mountain mass at Wölkartkogel amidst alpine meadows, mountain air, and a wide view over the Stubalpe.
When the noon bells ring slowly above the Stubalpe and the view extends far over the alpine pastures, a mountain mass with a special atmosphere begins at Wölkartkogel.
Around the Old Almhaus near Maria Lankowitz, hikers, families, and locals gather for a communal celebration in the open air. The Holy Mass on Sunday, June 14, 2026, connects nature, tradition, and the simple togetherness in the mountains of Western Styria. The site at Wölkartkogel lies peacefully between meadows, alpine pastures, and forests. Especially on clear days, the view extends far beyond the Stubalpe. Many guests combine their visit with a hike or a cozy stop at the Old Almhaus. This creates a day that fits the landscape and rhythm of the region.
The celebration begins at 12:00 p.m. and takes place in any weather. Sturdy footwear is recommended, as paths and meadows around the venue may be damp depending on the weather. The event is all about living tradition and has been part of early summer in the mountains for many visitors for years.
By the way: Around the Old Almhaus, nature and tranquility of the Graz Region show themselves in a particularly unspoiled way. Between alpine meadows, fresh mountain air, and quiet paths, there is plenty of time for conversations, views, and a relaxing day on the Stubalpe.
