Two "vampirettes" on a global mission, a salvation that is only thinkable through a being with inhuman qualities – a monster – and the music theater as a mirror of a world that has gone out of joint: In Monster’s Paradise, Olga Neuwirth’s radical sound fantasy and Elfriede Jelinek’s pointed linguistic art collide joyfully – decaying the horrors of the world with analytical sharpness and humor. Tobias Kratzer – once a Ring Award winner, now an internationally celebrated director – transforms this brand new political grotesque into a grand contemporary, drastically humorous spectacle.

A reunion of two extraordinary artists in tune with the times: More than two decades after their legendary collaborations Bählamms Fest and Lost Highway, Olga Neuwirth and Elfriede Jelinek continue their congenial partnership.
With Monster’s Paradise, they have created a biting allegory of the present in the style of the famous, grotesque anti-plays about power and downfall – Ligeti’s Le Grand Macabre and Penderecki’s Ubu Rex.
As avatars of themselves, they send two "vampirettes" on a ridiculous journey and allow them to dissect the decline of humanity.
A spectacle between political satire, media frenzy, and mythical downfall that raises the question of whether the salvation of the world by an egomaniacal president-king can occur precisely – or even exclusively – through a monster. With Tobias Kratzer, one of the most exciting and successful directors of the present shapes this material into a hybrid mix of tragedy and satyr play – sharp, gaudy, hauntingly human.
