During the Lipizzaner Almabtrieb, the young stallions return from Stubalm and are ceremoniously welcomed in Maria Lankowitz, Köflach, and Piber.

After more than three months on the Stubalm, the one- to three-year-old Lipizzaner stallions return to their stables in Piber on September 11, 2027. The horse convoy covers around 20 kilometers from the meadow down into the valley. The traditional Almabtrieb combines horse culture, customs, music, and regional cuisine at several event locations in the Lipizzaner homeland.

A first highlight is the decoration of the young stallions at the Gasthaus Wiendl in Maria Lankowitz. There, the horses receive colorful summer flower bouquets before the festive horse blessing takes place at the castle square. Afterwards, the convoy continues on to Köflach. Led by the music association Gestüt Piber, the festive procession moves through the city center to the town hall.
