JAPAN - Die Saga einer Nation

A narrator leads the audience through the epochs of Japan – accompanied by traditional Koto music and atmospheric projections that visually support what is being said.

Like an opened history book, a chronological journey unfolds through myths, turning points, and cultural influences. The narration remains at the center: spoken, guided, and experienced live. The projected images serve as an accompanying layer, condensing places, moods, and times without replacing the narrative.

A Koto player musically shapes the evening live. Her sounds connect the individual chapters and give the narration emotional depth and cultural authenticity. Word, music, and image intertwine and form a coherent scenic dramaturgy.

This creates a staged journey through history that is not designed as a film screening, exhibition, or concert, but as a live-narrated, coherent stage form, where past, atmosphere, and sound merge together.

Program of the evening: The approximately 75-minute staging follows a continuous narrative arc and takes the audience chronologically through selected epochs of Japanese history.
