Graz tells: Matinees of Stories bring vibrant storytelling to the Schauspielhaus Graz in Styria. On May 21 and 22, 2026, children and young people are in the spotlight. International artists create a diverse program of stories, music, and movement.
For an hour, new worlds open up. Words become images, sounds become moods, and small scenes turn into big adventures. Moments arise that invite wonder and spark the imagination.
- May 21 at 9:30 AM for children aged 6 – 10 years
- May 21 at 11:30 AM for children aged 10 – 18 years
- May 22 at 9:30 AM for children aged 6 – 18 years (non-verbal special: focus on acrobatics, puppetry, music)
A special highlight is the non-verbal matinee. Without the use of language, a connection is created that everyone understands. Movements, gestures, and images tell their own stories. This creates a bridge between different age groups and backgrounds.
As part of the festival, the Matinees of Stories showcase how versatile storytelling is in the Graz Region. A format that reaches young people and gives them space for imagination. Graz becomes a stage for stories that connect and resonate long after.
The Schauspielhaus is easily accessible by public transportation.
