Grat² MuRun

If an entire place is running, a joint sports day for the region is created: On Sunday, the 27th of September 2026, the Grat² MuRun celebrates its premiere in Gratwein-Strassengel. The new running event combines sports competitions for children, youth, and adults with a family festival around the sports field.

The program is based on the motto "Movement & Fun for Everyone."

• 10:00 a.m. the Bambini Run over 250 meters for the youngest participants 
• 10:15 a.m. Kids Run over 800 meters 
• 10:30 a.m. Youth Run over 1.5 kilometers
• 11:00 a.m. the competitions for adults are on the program: a 5 km run, the VERBUND 10 km run, Nordic walking over five kilometers, as well as a 4-person relay for clubs, companies, families, and friends.

The route runs almost flat along the Mur and combines nature experience with athletic challenge. The flat course offers good conditions for beginners, hobby runners, and ambitious athletes. The location at the Mur bike path also allows for a sporting arrival by bicycle.

In addition to the runs, a family festival accompanies the events around the sports field. Children’s programming, bouncy castles, music, and culinary refreshments provide a shared experience away from the track. The mascot Haselu represents the family character and the joy of movement.

The event concept also includes chip timing, starter bags, refreshment stations, and awards for the winners. For the youngest participants, there is a finisher medal at the finish line as a memento of their first run or their next athletic step. The Grat² MuRun thus combines sporting activity, community, and the landscape along the Mur into a new highlight in the event calendar of Gratwein-Strassengel.
