Two runs, two cities –
42.2 kilometers total distance – Only the new Koralmbahn and the fast train connection between Klagenfurt and Graz make this marathon possible in two stages.

Two of the most popular half marathons are combined into a joint marathon.
August 30, 2026 - Kärnten Läuft - Wörthersee Half Marathon (21.1 km)
October 11, 2026 - Graz Marathon – Hervis Half Marathon (21.1 km)

Result: 42.2 kilometers – a marathon in two stages.
By combining the "Kärnten Läuft – Wörthersee Half Marathon" and the "Graz Marathon – Half Marathon," a completely new marathon experience is created:
Nature meets City – Wörthersee and Graz Old Town Two perfectly timed dates – Summer & Autumn Two standalone highlights – that together lead to the marathon distance
The classic marathon distance of 42.195 km is thus spread over two time points – without changing the character of the individual events. The Area Süd Marathon is thus not intended as a substitute, but as a connection of two successful events, which fully exploit their respective strengths and create a new, innovative running experience together.
