More information
The hike starts at the Plotscherbauer Alpine Hut (flux GU1827) at 1,140 m above sea level. A yellow signpost directly at the hut points towards Fensteralm. The wide trail initially leads through the forest to an open alpine meadow, then follows a fence past an enclosed wooden hut before returning into the forest.
The route continues along a forest road until the hiking trail branches off to the right. This turn is only marked with red-white-red trail markings and can easily be missed. The path continues through the forest with several scenic sections. After a longer traverse on a narrow trail across a steeper slope, a short descent over a large clearing leads to a trail junction.
From here, the route follows the long-distance trails 02 and 05. The final ascent crosses the treeless ridge to the elongated summit area of Fensteralm at 1,642 m above sea level. The return follows the same route back to the starting point.
