The Johann hydrogen cell, named after Archduke Johann, was developed by the Austrian company EEG.

It was installed as a field test for an innovative approach to the sustainable supply of renewable energy. The decentralized and controllable energy cell for electricity and heat is intended to store energy in summer to bridge the winter.
