Mountaineering, climbing & skiing in the Gesäuse

The region around the Gesäuse National Park is one of the most outstanding mountain areas in the Eastern Alps. Alpine history was written in the "University of Mountaineering" (K. Maix) and to this day, undertakings in the lime-grey giant walls are among the highlights of every alpinist. The range of tours is as diverse as the region itself and ranges from enjoyable climbing of moderate difficulty to technically demanding plaisir routes.

The Gesäuse Mountains are among the most naturally beautiful foothills of the Eastern Alps and offer a paradise for climbers, skiers and mountaineers. It was not for nothing that the area was designated a national park in 2002! The starting point is usually Admont, also historically known for its Benedictine monastery. By car, you can reach almost every starting point for ascents or the smaller National Park communities such as Johnsbach, Gstatterboden or Hieflau in less than 30 minutes.
