Mödlingerhütte

Inside you can smell fresh culinary delicacies and outside you can enjoy the good mountain air at 1,523 metres. The accessibility of the hut is wonderful from several sides and, above all, hikeable.

Park your car in Johnsbach or at the car park above Gaishorn and then you're off up to the Mödlingerhütte. Or choose Klinkehütte or Kaiserau as your starting point. Mountain bikers love the route from Gaishorn (and only from there!) and they all meet at the top to eat Holzfällernockerl or for a rendezvous with the Topfenstrudel. And a glass of Gesäuse wine for the grown-ups and a Kracherl for the little ones is sure to be part of the party.

• from Gaishorn im Paltental via the toll road or trail no. 671 in 2.5 hours
• Access to the Mödlingerhütte (toll) via toll road to the parking lot. From there remaining walking time of about 30 minutes.
• Crossing from Klinkehütte via trail no. 208 in 2 hours

The Mödlingerhütte is part of the "Gesäuse Hüttenrunde" and the "Vom Gletscher zum Wein Nordroute".

• Johnsbacher Höhenweg 
• Admonter Reichenstein (2,251 m) on trail no. 672 (II) in 2.5 hours (only for experienced hikers)
• Eisenerzer Alpen Kammweg: long-distance trail no. 673: via Anhartskogel, Blaseneck, Leobner, Zeiritzkampel to Eisenerzer Reichenstein in 16 hours! Alternatively: descent from Leobner to Johnsbach in 7 to 8 hours.
