Alpine pastures and mountains in the Hochschwab region

  • Starting point: Leopoldsteinersee (lake outlet) – follow the marked normal trail (via ferrata options also available). The route begins with a steep ascent and minor climbing sections on a marked path, followed by a scenic alpine hike to the summit.
    Hiking time: approx. 3 hours.

    Alternative starting point: Leopoldsteinersee (lake inlet) – via Seeboden – hunting cabins – Hasenwilzinghütte up to the summit.
    Hiking time: approx. 3½ hours.

    This also makes for a great circular hike – for example, ascent via the lake outlet and descent via Hasenwilzinghütte and the lake inlet – or the other way around!

  • Via Oppenberg / Gasthof Grobbauer – approx. 40 minutes by car from Haus Gassner
  • Via Lassing / Schattenberg – approx. 30 minutes by car from Haus Gassner
  • Or via Lassing, taking the forest road in the direction of Pfitscherkogel – also approx. 30 minutes by car from Haus Gassner.

  • Starting point: Leopoldsteinersee (lake outlet) – Hochblaser
    Hiking time: approx. 4 hours

    From Leopoldsteinersee (lake inlet) via Seeboden and Hasenwilzinghütte
    Hiking time: approx. 4.5 hours

    From Schwabeltal (former inn GH zur Wahrheit) via Hinterschwabeltal – Ochsenboden – Rolleralm
    Hiking time: approx. 5 hours

    Or approaching via the Eisenerzer Höhe.

  • Starting point directly in Eisenerz (residential area) via the Markussteig
    or via the Südwandsteig (a lightly secured climbing route)
    or coming from the Leopoldsteinersee (Seeboden side).
  • From Tragöß-Jassing – approx. 2 hours
  • From Wildalpen – approx. 4 hours
  • From Eisenerz – approx. 5½ hours
  • Ascent via Leopoldsteinersee (Seeau)
  • or from Wildalpen – parking at Winterhöh (near the lift), where trail no. 829 begins in the direction of Sonnschienalm – Schafhals Saddle – Siebensee.
