    Trail running

    Trail Running

The Schladming-Dachstein Region is definitely a pioneer when it comes to trail running – in fact, we are the first region in Austria to feature marked trail running routes. With everything from easy to extreme – over 50 different tours await you. One absolute highlight is the King Dachstein Trail, leading you in four stages a total of 117 km across rocky terrain, green alpine pastures and glacial ice.

Rules for recreational users of alpine pastures and meadows

As a matter of principle, you should always treat nature, animals and the people who work in the countryside with respect and appreciation. Farming the fields and especially the alpine pastures is often done in difficult conditions. Show your respect for this important and hard work. To avoid unpleasant encounters with the grazing animals, please obey a few basic rules. In particular, realize that cows, especially mother cows, view dogs as potential enemies and will always protect their calves. The following behaviors will ensure your personal safety and guarantee that you behave correctly on the meadows and alpine pastures that provide a home for our cattle.

    Hikes with dog

Schladming-Dachstein offers numerous walks for you and your dog. On many of the paths you will find so-called "dog stations" with dog bags, we ask you to use them and dispose of them properly. Please also note that leash is mandatory in Styria. We have put together all the dog-friendly tours for you and your dog, but we must point out that on some hikes a dog is forbidden, which we ask you to respect!
