The circular hike along the Übelbacher Silberweg leads along forest paths, gravel roads and short asphalt sections. Parts of the route follow themed trails such as the historical trail and forest nature trail, featuring interactive stations that offer insights into Übelbach’s history.

Along the way, views of the village and its surroundings open up time and again. The tour is family-friendly, yet its length gives it a slightly sporty character. Thanks to optional shortcuts, the route can be adapted flexibly.

By car: A9, exit Übelbach – follow the L385 to the town centre – free parking available along the road and at Alter Markt

Start at Alter Markt – follow the “silver arrow” signs – pass Restaurant Monte Vino – turn left into the forest (information boards, play stations) – cross a bridge onto a gravel road – follow downhill – underpass – bridge over the Übelbach stream – continue along the Silberweg past the water reservoir – forest path – pass under the motorway twice – residential area – cross the motorway bridge to the other side of the valley – short stretch on asphalt heading inward – turn right uphill through the “Am Steinbühel” terraced housing area – return via forest paths and gravel roads to the starting point.

After the hike
The old market square in Übelbach offers places to stop for a break. Regional cuisine, pastries and shaded spots provide a pleasant rest.

Points of interest
St. Michael’s Chapel reflects the region’s historic silver mining. The unlocked gate allows a glimpse inside.

Train: From Graz take the S1 to Peggau-Deutschfeistritz, then continue with the S11 to Übelbach – approx. 5 minutes on foot to the centre and starting point. Please check the weekend timetable.
