A varied circuit in St. Radegund bei Graz featuring flowing springs, natural highlights at Novystein and cultural sights at Calvary Hill.

Like a string of pearls, 22 historic springs line the hiking trails around St. Radegund bei Graz at the foot of the Schöckl. Each spring tells its own story and invites visitors to refresh, enjoy Kneipp treatments or find a moment of tranquillity.

The Calvary Hill Circuit is the longest of the three marked spring trails and leads hikers to Novystein at 910 m above sea level. Along the route, visitors discover strong-flowing springs, Ehrenfels Castle and the forest nature trail at Novystein before reaching the cultural highlights of the tour: the renovated Calvary Hill with its hermitage and the parish church of St. Radegund.

For shorter spring experiences, the Ungarische Runde (Hungarian Circuit) and Hubertus Circuit offer additional options.

Car: From Graz via the regional road to St. Radegund bei Graz. The starting point of the tour is at Curcafé St. Radegund, around 19 km from Graz.
Free parking is available at Kurhaus St. Radegund.
Alternatively, additional paid parking spaces are available at the Schöckl cable car valley station.

Starting at Curcafé St. Radegund, the route climbs uphill towards the Scherbauerwiese ski lift. Here, the trail turns left and leads to the first spring, the Theresen Spring. Passing the Tibetan Bön centre, the route continues towards the pension insurance rehabilitation clinic and then descends to the Stille Quelle.

The trail continues past Hohenwartstein and climbs to the Melanie Spring. Following forest paths and local roads, hikers reach the Ehrenfels Castle ruins. After a short descent, the route climbs again to the Katharina Spring and continues to Novystein with its scenic viewpoint.

The return follows the same route back to Katharina Spring and then descends past the Räuber Spring and Emilien Spring. Via the local road and the Roschker Spring, the trail reaches Calvary Hill St. Radegund with its hermitage and Calvary Spring. The tour then returns to the starting point at Curcafé St. Radegund.

The renovated Calvary Hill with its accidentally discovered hermitage is a special highlight of the tour and invites visitors to pause and explore. The other spring trails in St. Radegund also offer rewarding nature and cultural experiences.
