The trail to Hochtrötsch offers wide panoramic views across Semriach, the Schöckl area and Almenland, extending to western and upper Styria. A scenic hidden gem in the Grazer Bergland.
A shorter, easier option and a more demanding route with a summit ascent are available. Both lead to the peace cross at Niedertrötsch and continue to the Rüster saddle. From there, a steep path branches off to Hochtrötsch, with a brief stop along the way before reaching the summit cross. The descent follows the Winterbauerweg and then returns via forest roads and quiet lanes to the Trötschwirt.

More information
Drive to Semriach, turn left in the village towards the outdoor pool and continue for about 3 km to the Trötschwirt.
Start at the Trötschwirt. After about 200 m towards Rechberg, the trail branches off to the left towards Trötsch. Through forest and across a pasture, you reach Niedertrötsch in about 45 minutes, with views of the Schöckl and towards Anger and Ulrichsbrunn. A short detour to the orchid meadow is possible. The route then continues mostly level to the Friedenskreuz on the Bojer Alm. It proceeds along forest and meadow paths through grazing areas to the Rüsterkreuz and the Rüster Saddle. Here you can choose between the more demanding Hochtrötschsteig or the easier forest road. Both options rejoin on the Trötschweg. Via the area near the Burgstallerhof, the route returns to Holleggstraße and back to the starting point at the Trötschwirt.
