Theatre: Sherlock Holmes – The Moriarty Case
Sherlock Holmes is chasing Moriarty at the main square of Frohnleiten in the open air.
When the main square of Frohnleiten transforms into a stage full of shadows and traces, it’s theater time in Styria. “Sherlock Holmes – The Case of Moriarty” brings the famous detective story as a crime comedy right to the main square. Between the church and historic facades, a backdrop emerges that seems almost made for fog, suspicion, and clever deductions.
On July 15, 2026, the play will celebrate its premiere at the main square of Frohnleiten. The performance will take place outdoors as twilight slowly envelops the square and tension rises. Directed by Alfred Haidacher, who presents a version with the Theater Frohnleiten ensemble that combines pace, wit, and thrill. Ken Ludwig’s adaptation ensures witty dialogues and surprising twists.
The main square itself becomes a playing field. Every corner could be a clue, every shadow part of the game. The audience is right in the midst of the action, witnessing the encounter between Sherlock Holmes and his adversary Moriarty. Crime and humor interlock like gears in a clockwork.
Such summer evenings are simply part of the Graz Region. Theater under the stars, a lively square, familiar houses all around – that is culture in Styria, close and vibrant. “Sherlock Holmes – The Case of Moriarty” in Frohnleiten shows how much atmosphere can be found in a main square.
Tickets are available online and at the Frohnleiten tourism office.
