Special guided tour: Christmas at Rein Abbey, family tour
During the family tour at the Stift Rein in Gratwein-Strassengel, children and adults discover the Christmas story in the basilica and together create a Christmas nativity scene.
Admission: € 11.50 adults | € 4.00 from 14 years
Angels, the Holy Family, and the Christmas story are the focus of a special family tour at the Stift Rein. On Saturday, the 12th of December, the basilica will become the setting for a joint exploration of the biblical Christmas story.
On a tour through the Stiftsbasilika in Gratwein-Strassengel, children and adults will follow the traces of the angels. Together, they will discover representations of the Holy Family and learn about the connection between the high altar and the Christmas festival. The familiar story of the birth of Jesus will be explored through the artworks and religious representations in the basilica.
The tour combines engagement with the Christmas story with a creative conclusion. After the tour, families will create a nativity scene together. For this, each participant is asked to bring their own nativity figure, which can, of course, be taken home after the event.
The family tour offers the opportunity to get to know the Stift Rein during the Advent season from a festive perspective. The basilica, with its religious artworks, provides the framework for engaging with the figures and symbols of the Christmas story.
Tickets, € 11.50 adults | € 4.00 from 14 years, are available at the abbey shop, and registration is not required. The Styria Card is not valid for this special tour.
The Stift Rein is accessible by public transport.
