Jazz thrives on listening, on interplay, and on the freedom to explore new musical paths. This is exactly where the Shortcuts Festival of the Jazzwerkstatt Graz comes in. On November 26. and 27. 2026, six young acts will perform on stage at the Stockwerk Graz, engaging with their own musical ideas, experimental sounds, and improvisation.
Shortcuts does not understand jazz as a fixed genre, but as an open musical language. Away from familiar structures, new sound spaces, spontaneous dialogues, and individual forms of expression arise. The festival focuses on a young music scene that embraces, questions, and further develops traditions.
On Thursday, November 26., the Lampros Lamprousis Quartet, Chez Fría, and Muel will perform.
On Friday, November 27., Josef Labuda & Teoman Özdogru, SquarEars, and Spoon Baboon will shape the second festival evening.
As a supplement to the main festival of the Jazzwerkstatt Graz, Shortcuts places special emphasis on promoting young talent and regional grounding. For jazz enthusiasts curious about new ensembles, unconventional sound ideas, and the next generation of improvising musicians, Shortcuts offers insight into current musical developments.
Day tickets cost € 25.00, reduced € 15.00. The festival pass is available for € 45.00, reduced for € 25.00. Solidarity tickets cost € 35.00 per evening or € 65.00 for both days. Children under 14 years have free admission.
