Entry is free!
On Saturday, the 21st of November 2026, the municipal community of Gratkorn in Styria invites you to the traditional Krampus run. An evening full of atmospheric moments in the heart of the Graz Region.
The event begins at 5:00 p.m. with the arrival of St. Nicholas at the church square of Gratkorn, a special opportunity to introduce younger guests to the tradition of customs.
Starting at 6:00 p.m., the actual Krampus run begins: 28 groups from the region parade through the streets with intricately carved wooden masks, furs, bells, and chimes – an impressive spectacle that keeps alpine customs alive.
The atmosphere invites awe and empathy: Amidst the dark evening mood, torchlight, and ringing bells, an image of old traditions emerges, contrasting with the modern surroundings. On this evening, Gratkorn presents itself as a lively place of lived cultural traditions.
Particularly remarkable is the diversity of the participating groups, each with its own mask and style – making the run an experience for enthusiasts of customs as well as for guests who are curious about regional culture.
Gratkorn is accessible by public transport.
