Guided hike: Krautwasch - Walzkogel circular hike

Extensive hikes and impressive mountain areas in the Gleinalm region are among the most beautiful mountain experiences in the Graz region.

From the former alpine inn Krautwasch, we take varied paths to Walzkogel with its summit cross (1456 m), from where we enjoy a fantastic view from Gleinalpe over the state capital Graz to Eastern Styria. The path continues along little-used trails to the rustic Walzkogelhütte, where we take a cozy break before hiking back to Krautwasch.   

Meeting Point: 8:15 a.m., Übelbach Train Station

Trail Length: 12 km | Ascent 480 hm | Walking time approx. 4:30 hrs

Duration of the hike until approx. 4:00 p.m. with planned break at Walzkogelhütte, joint return transfer by shared taxi to Übelbach Train Station (included)  

Arrival by Public Transport: by S-Bahn S1 and S11 Graz – Peggau - Übelbach, transfer by shared taxi to Krautwasch and back to Übelbach (included), individual return from Übelbach (otherwise with flux.at to Peggau, excluded)

Difficulty Level: Mountain hike without special requirements, fitness for approx. 4.5 hours and 500 meters of height gain required

Equipment: Good hiking/mountain shoes required, hiking/sports clothing (layering principle), backpack, rain and sun protection, possibly hiking poles, hat & gloves depending on the weather, drink, snack

Costs: € 15.00 per person, payable on-site to the guide

The guided hike is conducted by the Graz Region Tourism Association in cooperation with the hiking guides. Please note that last-minute changes may be possible. Participation is at your own risk.
For safety and organizational reasons, bringing dogs is not allowed!
