Gösser Open - Golfanlage Erzherzog Johann
International golf tournament with tradition at the GC Erzherzog Johann in Maria Lankowitz.
When, in May, the fairways in the Lipizzaner homeland show their green, everything in Maria Lankowitz is in the sign of the Gösser Open. The tournament will be played on May 14, 2026, at the Golfclub Erzherzog Johann, a course with views of the gentle hills of Western Styria. For decades, this tournament has been one of the fixed points in the local professional golf scene and is part of the Alps Tour.
The course is quietly located at the edge of a former mining area and challenges players with fast greens, water hazards, and long holes, demanding precise play. Spectators closely follow the flights from hole to hole. The quiet clicking of clubs, tense silence before the putt, and applause after a successful shot shape the atmosphere.
In addition to the professionals, many Austrian players will also participate. For them, the tournament is an important platform. For the audience, it is an opportunity to experience top-level golf without great distances. The pathways are short, the atmosphere is open, and conversations on the fairway are part of it.
Maria Lankowitz presents itself from its sporty side. Guesthouses and excursion destinations around the course invite for a detour. Thus, a tournament day combines nature, culinary delights, and a glimpse into the region's tumultuous history.
The Gösser Open is therefore not just a competition, but a fixed part of the event calendar of the Graz Region.
