Genussreise der Sinne
The pleasure journey through the Natural History Museum and the dining at LENDHAFEN
Discover what really happens in the love life of plants and how natural knowledge, sensual impressions, and culinary discoveries come together to create a fascinating whole. This journey shows how closely nature and enjoyment are interconnected: from the art of plants attracting attention to the foods that have been considered naturally aphrodisiac for centuries – an experience that stimulates body, mind, and palate alike.
1. Station: Tour in the Natural History Museum – "Flower Sex". The Colorful Activities of Plants
Plants are living beings, and yes, they also have sex. Their "pleasure center" is the flowers – within them are stamens and ovaries, their sexual organs. Plant sex revolves around the question of how pollen grains reach the right stigma. Not so simple, since plants are usually firmly rooted and cannot move towards one another.
Some entrust their pollen to the wind. Others entice various insects and even birds with fancy appearances, fragrances, and nectar to act as postillon d’amour, carrying the pollen from one flower to another.
Colors, scents, and shapes – what leads to reproduction in plants serves as a sensory stimulus and source of inspiration for us humans.
Duration: approx. 1 hour
2. Station: Culinary Conclusion – Menu of the Senses at Speis am Lendhafen
